Whole stick umbrella in Dogwood wood
This umbrella is the result of ancient craftsmanship, handed down from generation to generation. The umbrella is built on fine wooden sticks made from tree trunks or roots such as Ash, Hazel, Broom, Sugar Cane, Cherry, Chestnut, Congo, Hickory, Elm and many others.
The umbrella is made entirely by hand and is finished down to the smallest details. Inside we can see the "socks" (cuts of fabric that cover the hairpin of the slats), the two "recipes or rosettes" that cover the sliding canola and the double nut, i.e. the part where the slats join. The slats used are made of tempered steel.
The peculiarity of these umbrellas lies precisely in the processing of the stick as it presents irregularities and always different diameters each time which make mass processing impossible.
The stick is obtained from the pruning of trunks and roots which are selected and left to mature for months. After this first phase, the curve for the stick is created with the help of steam. The stick is then left to dry for 5/6 months while it undergoes traction to give it a straight shape. The last processing phase consists of waterproofing the wood and processing the ox horn tip.
NB.
Please note that the woods used for the manufacturing of "Domizio Umbrellas since 1989" are natural woods, for this reason each umbrella on sale on the site is a unique piece, the umbrellas are rigorously handcrafted by "Luca Domizio" and for no reason This is why mass production processes with automatic machinery are applied.
